Buccaneer 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky bottled for The Buccaneer Service Station in Elgin (70cl, 40%)
Smooth and rounded with a rich fragrance, this 12 Yea Old Malt Whisky was bottled as a tribute to !he All British Buccaneers and personnel, and also to the three junior ice hockey teams who adopted Buccaneer XW530.
Buccaneers first flew with the Fleet Air Arm, and later with the RAF at Lossiemouth for more than 30 years.
They saw action in the Gulf War and were finally stood down in 1994 at the same time as The Buccaneers and Sky Pirates ice hockey teams were born.
The name Buccaneer lives on in Elgin - as does XW530.
The label depicts Buccaneers in a typical Highland scene, skimming lochs and weaving through valleys in the early days, very low and fast. A truly amazing sight to be forgotten, printed from an original oil painting by Guy Davidson.
Buccaneer XW530 was saved and is at present on display at the Buccaneer Service Station, Elgin, Buccaneers were highly thought-of by all who woked on and flew them and were undoubtedly the best low level strike aircraft ever built.
