The Tweeddale 28 Year Old - The Evolution (70cl, 52%)

Bottle No 232 of 600

The oldest Tweeddale whisky to date, a blend of classic Speyside single malts and a Lowland single grain, with the youngest component whisky being 28 years old.

The original Tweeddale Whisky was produced in Coldstream in 1820 until World War II. In 2010 The Tweeddale Whisky was re-created with a focus on small batch aged blends and historic single casks.

In 1820 brothers John and Andrew Davidson began their business in Coldstream as brewers and wine & spirits merchants. J&A Davidson ran a licensed grocers shop at 1 Duke Street, where The Tweeddale Whisky was born. Richard Day joined J&A Davidson in 1895 as an office boy and learned the art of blending. Throughout his career, he recorded minute details of numerous blending recipes in his ‘cellar book’. J&A Davidson became Richard Day when he took over the business in 1923. He operated it until the market declined prior to World War II, gradually sold his casks and retired. In 2010 having inherited his great-grandfather’s cellar book, Alasdair Day began recreating The Tweeddale Whisky. Using his original recipe of eight single malts and one single grain, The Tweeddale Whisky was reborn.
