Grant's The Gordon Highlanders 200 Bicentenary - Official Whisky of the Regiment (70cl, 40%)

Grant's The Gordon Highlanders 200 Bicentenary - Official Whisky of the Regiment (70cl, 40%)

The Gordon Highlanders blended Scotch whisky, released to celebrate the regiment's 200th anniversary. This was produced by William Grant & Sons.

William Grant held the rank of Major in The Gordon Highlanders' volunteer battalion in 1897. This remains the official whisky of the regiment.

Launched by William Grant - founder of the Glenfiddich distillery - in 1898, Grant's is Scotland's oldest continuously family-run, blended whisky maker. William's rise from cattle herder to whisky baron is one of the great tales in Scotch. In 1903, William employed his son-in-law Charles Gordon and six years later he embarked on a world tour spreading the word about Grant's (or, as it was then called, Grant's Standfast after the clan motto: 'Standfast Craigellachie') and making the brand into the worldwide success it is today.

The Gordon Highlanders was a line infantry regiment of the British Army that existed for 113 years. It was formed in 1881 and recruited in Aberdeenshire, Banffshire, Kincardineshire and Shetland. It served in several British Army campaigns until 1994, when it was merged with The Queen’s Own Highlanders (Seaforth and Camerons) to form The Highlanders (Seaforth, Gordons and Camerons).
