Back in February 2009, a selection of Diageo distillery managers were tasked to choose a single cask of whisky from each of the 27 malt whisky distilleries in the company's portfolio at the time. The Managers' Choice releases were quite controversial when initially released, being fairly young whiskies with quite high price tags. Official single cask releases from these distilleries are still rare however (as are official release at all in some cases), so perhaps these would be considered quite reasonable now.

Distilled in 1999 and bottled in 2009 from single cask #11323.

A 9 year old, cask strength, single cask Auchroisk from Diageo's Managers Choice range. This was distilled in 1999 and aged in a single sherry cask (number 11323) for 9 years before bottling in March of 2009. A release of 642 bottles. 

Auchroisk distillery was built by Justerini & Brooks in 1972 to provide malt for their blends. Despite this, there was an immediate focus on its single malt as well, and it was first bottled in 1986. These were vintage-dated releases, and some of the earliest to use cask finishing. This was never advertised though, and the distillery left Balvenie to take the credit for the innovation.
