QE2 12 Queen Elizabeth II

QE2 over 12 Years Old Single Malt from Springbank bottled by Beinn Bhuidhe in 1970s for Queen Elizabeth II Cruise Ship (26 2/3 fl.ozs, 85 Proof)

A special release of QE2 aged over 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky presented in a 26 2/3 fl.ozs (78.8cl) ceramic flagon decanter. This decanter contains a 12 year old single malt from Campbeltown's Springbank distillery. This was bottled at 85 Proof (42.2% ABV) by Beinn Bhuidhe Holdings of Inveraray, Scotland and sold onboard the world-famous Queen Elizabeth II cruise ship. This was bottled in the 1970s.

Although the decanter does not carry the identity of the whisky, it was documented by Duke of Argyll that QE2 was indeed a Springbank single malt. Beinn Bhuide is a subsidiary company of Morrison Bowmore having the trio of distilleries in its stable; Bowmore, Glen Garioch and Auchentoshan.

Springbank distillery has been owned and operated by the Mitchell family in Campbeltown since 1837, and it one of Scotland's most revered distilleries. Following a brief mothballing between 1979 and 1987, upon the reopening the decision was taken to cease all sales to the blending industry and focus on its single malt sales. Today it is one of the only distilleries to malt, distil, bottle and mature whisky on the same site, and produces three distinct and highly prized single malts.
