Old Orkney 'The Island's Peedie Dram' by Gordon and MacPhail from 1990s (70cl, 40%)
Distilled on the Isle of Orkney by an unnamed distiller this whisky has been bottled by independent bottlers Gordon and MacPhail. This expression has been aged in oak casks before being bottled at a strength of 40% abv. "Peedie" means small or wee in the Orcadian dialect. Rumored to be 8 years old this blend of malts from the Isle of Orkney is extremely rare and highly collectable.
Gordon & MacPhail are one of the largest and most recognisable whisky companies in the world. Although they began distilling at the newly refurbished Benromach distillery in 1998, for most of their history they were an independent bottler. Their labels are recognised by whisky lovers the world over, and their licensed bottlings from distillery's like Macallan and Talisker in the 1970s and 1980s, when the companies were not bottling themselves, are a huge part of the success of those distillers today.
This is a blend of Highland whiskies with some produced in the Orkney Isles. The company have historically had strong links to both Highland Park and Scapa, holding the license for the latter around this time too.
