GlenAllachie 21 Year Old Batch 4 (70cl, 51.1%)

GlenAllachie 21 Year Old Batch 4 (70cl, 51.1%)

The reward of patience and perseverance, the fourth iteration of GlenAllachie's coveted 21-year-old expression. Representing the archetypal Billy Walker style, each release exudes Sherry-matured sophistication.

After extensive sampling and evaluation across 50,000 casks maturing on-site, Billy hand-picked just three vintage Pedro Ximénez puncheons to create this ultra-limited release. The heather honey-forward distillate stands up well to ageing in rich Sherry oak, creating a rich, luxurious malt. The wood has imparted layers of sweetness, offering a palate with decadent chocolate truffles and dark cherries steeped in maraschino syrup. Exceptionally smooth, this elegant expression is one to be savoured.

Presented at natural cask strength of 51.1%, without added colouring or chill-filtration for the purest drinking experience. Batch 4 limited release of only 2000 bottles.

Glenallachie distillery was built by Mackinlays in 1967 to meet the demands of its blends following an upturn in sales in the US. Built as a small compact distillery, GlenAllachie was the fourth distillery designed by William Delme-Evans. The complete whisky making process was gravity fed and combined with unusual horizontal condensers it was a triumph of engineering and design. In its short history it has passed through the hands of Invergordon Distillers and Pernod-Ricard. During this period the focus was always on the provision of blends, with over 20 years between the first Mackinlay’s distillery bottlings of its single malt and the next official release from Chivas Brothers in 2005. Now in the hands of Billy Walker, Glenallachie is finally being pushed as an increasingly popular single malt brand since 2017.
