Famous Grouse Islay Cask Finish - 1990s (70cl, 40%)
Finished in casks from the Island of Islay - famed for its smoky and peaty whiskies, this whisky has more than a hint of the Smoky and dark about it.
Created in 1896 by Mathew Gloag, it was initially called the Grouse Blend but the 'Famous' prefix was added in 1905 after the success of the brand. Owned by the Edrington Group, it is stablemates with Highland Park and Macallan and was awarded the Royal Warrant in 1984. The blenders still work by the same four fundamentals as they always have: foundation (sticking to the Gloag family traditions); finest (keeping up the high quality); flavour (creating aroma through maturation); and fusion (perfecting the ideal blend).
