Cutty Sark Tam O'Shanter 25 Year Old (70cl, 46.5%)
This 25 year old was released to celebrate Burns Night in 2012. The blend is named for one of Burns' most famous poems, Tam O'Shanter. The whisky comes in an impressive wooden box depicting images from the poem.
Included is a fantastic book featuring the full text of the poem, some history and a selection of art inspired by the story with over 50 illustrated scenes by the late Alexander Goudie who is considered one of Scotland’s finest figurative painters.
This was the first limited edition selected by Cutty Sark Master Blender Kirsteen Campbell, with only 5000 bottles produced.
The Cutty Sark blend was devised in 1923 by Berry Brothers & Rudd, the esteemed London wine-merchant. This was blended and bottled by Edrington, who owned the brand between 2010 and 2018, when they sold it on to La Martinquaise.
Berry Brothers & Rudd is a firm steeped in history. They were established in the late 17th century, and received a Royal Warrant from King Edward VII in 1903. The company has been bottling single malt whisky from almost as early as that, and produced their first ever blend, Cutty Sark, in 1923.
